Fractional CMO

Senior marketing leadership. Without the full-time commitment.

You’ve reached the point where marketing needs more than campaigns, disconnected specialists or a founder holding everything together.

You need someone who can see the bigger commercial picture, set priorities, lead people and turn strategy into measurable progress.

As your Fractional CMO, I step into the business as a hands-on senior marketing leader, bringing the strategic direction and execution experience of an in-house CMO, at a level of commitment that fits your stage.

Not another consultant on the sidelines. A senior partner invested in moving the business forward.

Who it's for

For ambitious startups and scaleups that need experienced marketing and growth leadership but aren’t ready, or don’t need, a full-time CMO.

Particularly valuable for founder-led businesses building their first structured marketing function, teams entering a new growth phase, or companies that need stronger alignment between marketing and commercial priorities.

Problems it solves

  • Founder-dependent marketing. Too much marketing direction and decision-making still depends on the founder.
  • No clear growth strategy. You’re running campaigns and channels without a coherent plan connecting marketing to revenue.
  • A team without senior leadership. You have capable people or external agencies but need someone to set direction and hold the pieces together.
  • Execution isn’t translating into growth. Plenty is happening, but priorities, accountability and commercial outcomes are unclear.
  • Not ready for a full-time CMO. You need senior capability now without making a permanent executive hire.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Fractional CMO?

A Fractional CMO is an experienced marketing executive who works with your business on a part-time or contracted basis. You gain senior strategic leadership and practical involvement without committing to a full-time executive role.

How is this different from hiring a consultant?

A consultant typically provides recommendations. As a Fractional CMO, I take a more embedded role, helping set direction, lead the function and drive execution alongside your existing team.

Will you actually execute, or only advise?

Both. My approach is hands-on and commercially focused. I can lead strategic priorities, oversee acquisition and growth initiatives, guide teams and support implementation. We agree on specific responsibilities and execution capacity upfront.

How many days a week do you work with a company?

This depends on your business stage, objectives and the level of leadership required. We agree on a working arrangement and scope that provides meaningful support without unnecessary overhead.

Can you manage our existing marketing team and agencies?

Yes. The engagement can include team leadership, agency management, performance oversight, prioritisation and alignment with wider business objectives.

What if we eventually want to hire a full-time CMO?

That’s absolutely possible. Fractional leadership can help you establish the strategy, team structure, processes and commercial foundations before making a permanent hire, and support the transition when the time is right.
